Dr Ronald Chin’s Take On Vestibular Disorders

Vestibular disorders disturb the body’s balance system. This is caused by some sort of damage in the vestibular system of the inner ear, the central nervous system processing systems, or even both.

The most common symptom of vestibular disorder is vertigo. Vertigo is the illusion of movement of the environment or oneself. It’s most commonly known as the spinning sensation. Most patients generally experience dizziness, so it’s crucial to distinguish between vertigo and other types of dizziness, like presyncope and disequilibrium.

Vertigo can be caused by both inner ear and central damage.
