Dr Ronald Chin Evaluates Chronic Laryngitis

Chronic Laryngitis is the inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa lasting more than 2 weeks. This is most common among elderly men and smokers. The most common causes of chronic laryngitis are inhaled irritants, chronic rhinosinusitis, and vocal overuse.

The symptoms for this are hoarseness, frequent throat clearing, and dry cough. A nasopharyngeal endoscopy is performed to diagnose the disease.

To treat it, the causative irritant is removed, acute exacerbations are treated with antibiotics and corticosteroids, and any other related disorders are treated.
